Human beings suffer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They torture one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They get hurt and get hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No poem or play or song<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can fully right a wrong<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inflicted and endured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History says, Don\u2019t hope<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the side of the grave,\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then, once in a lifetime<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The longed for tidal wave<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of justice can rise up<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And hope and history rhyme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So hope for a great sea-change<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the far side of revenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believe that a further shore<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is reachable from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believe in miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And cures and healing wells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call miracle self-healing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The utter self revealing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Double-take of feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there\u2019s fire on the mountain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And lightening and storm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a god speaks from the sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means someone is hearing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outcry and the birth-cry<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of new life at its term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It means once in a lifetime<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That justice can rise up<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And hope and history rhyme.
