A busy week. Frustrated at not getting into the Whitney last Tuesday, I returned on Monday and went to an interesting exhibit on the sixth floor. Programmed Rules, Codes, and Choreographies in Art, 1965-2018. No, I don\u2019t know what it means but do names of installations mean much? It\u2019s big and bright and covered one wall.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

One flight up was Selections from the Whitney\u2019s Collection. It was like running into old friends: Joseph Stella\u2019s The Brooklyn Bridge, lots of Edward Hopper\u2019s, Georgia O\u2019Keeffe\u2019 Summer Days.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A\u00a0 <\/span>friend was delayed from an early supper before NYCB so I ducked into The American Art Museum.The art of Orra White Hitchcock was featured. Mrs. Hitchcock was an accomplished artist and illustrated many of her husband\u2019s scientific treatises. Her husband said his wife\u2019s illustrations were better than his writings.<\/p>\n

The evening at the NYCB was perfect: music by Tschaikovsky, Bernstein etc., choreography by Balanchine, Wheeldon and dancing by Tiler Peck.<\/p>\n

Thursday night I went to \u201cCauldron of Forgotten Memories\u201d – 2018, a crowded, jolly exhibit of Preston Trombly\u2019s wonderful, colorful, vibrant acrylic on canvas works.<\/p>\n

Graphic Lessons:<\/i> What do a thirty-four-year old, a nine-year-old and an eighteen-year-old have in common? Murder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Millie Fitzgerald applies for a private school teaching job, faints on a\u00a0 <\/span>dying man in the school kitchen, deals with a troubled nine-year-old, the only witness to the stabbing and with the eighteen-year-old niece of the murdered man.<\/p>\n

Graphic Lessons:<\/i> Nine-year-old Dana is the only witness who overhears a person fighting with George Lopez, the soon to be stabbed Windsor School kitchen worker. Who can she tell? Her mother who never listens or accuses her of lying? Her father who\u2019s started a new family in Singapore? She tells Millie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Graphic Lessons: <\/i>NYPD Detective Steve Kulchek is assigned the murder case at the\u00a0 <\/span>prestigious Windsor School. What\u2019s bugging him? His partner being stabbed while Kulchek was buying cigarettes? Escaping an attempted car bombing?\u00a0 <\/span>His hated boss, Captain Dick Holbrook, being a trustee of the Windsor School?\u00a0 <\/span>Losing his girlfriend to Holbrook?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
